ROCKSTARS offers Ka’ohao students in grades 1-3 and 4-6 to learn, practice and improve rock climbing skills together in a FUN and SAFE environment!

Rockstars’ 24ft mobile climbing wall is the centerpiece of the classes, allowing students to climb as high as they dare, with the safety of the wall’s steel cables and auto-belay systems. Students also learn basic knots which helps train cognitive skills and hand-eye coordination. Climbs will be recorded and prizes are earned for reaching milestones.

With over 20 years experience running schools programs, Rockstars helps children develop self-confidence, problem solving and planning skills while building strength and muscular endurance.

Discover mental and physical toughness and perseverance through rock climbing, which children can take with them into life’s next challenge!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is any experience necessary?

Absolutely not ! Kids will learn to climb at their own pace and do not need experience.

Does my child need climbing shoes?

No, climbing shoes are not necessary. Climbing shoes do help, however they are expensive and kids grow out of them quickly. Kids may not climb in sandals, crocks, flip flops, or any open toed shoes. Most kids climb in their own sports shoes. Flat soled soccer shoes without studs are a good alternative.

What equipment does Rockstars provide?

We provide all the technical equipment needed for climbing. Harnesses, helmets, ropes, carabiners

Are classes open to students outside of Ka'ohao School?

Currently only students registered at Ka’oaho School may attend.

How does my kid get to rock climbing class at Ka'oaho School?

At the start of the semester, kids will be met by the instructor who will walk them to the climbing wall. Once the kids are familiar with the location they will make their own way to the climbing wall.

How do my kids get home from class?

Parents need to arrange to meet their children after class, either at the climbing wall or at the front of the school.
