Rockstars beginner rock climbing course is available to Kainalu students in grades 1-3 and 4-6. During the semester, students learn basic climbing safety, route planning, climbing technique and knot tying.
The classes encourage the students to challenge themselves physically and mentally while at the same time, having fun climbing the wall.
Rock climbing boosts self-confidence, increases physical endurance, strength and stamina.
It also encourages problem solving so providing a superb all-round activity.

Frequently Asking Questions
Is any experience necessary?
Absolutely not ! Kids will learn to climb at their own pace and do not need experience.
Does my child need climbing shoes?
No, climbing shoes are not necessary. Climbing shoes do help, however they are expensive and kids grow out of them quickly. Kids may not climb in sandals, crocks, flip flops, or any open toed shoes. Most kids climb in their own sports shoes. Flat soled soccer shoes are a good alternative.
What equipment does Rockstars provide?
We provide all the technical equipment needed for climbing. Harnesses, helmuts, ropes, carabiners .
How does my kid get to rock climbing class at Kainalu
If your child is in an after school program, the teachers will direct students where to go.
If your child is coming from home, you will need bring them to the climbing wall.
How do my kids get home from class?
We will bring the students to the pick up circle at the class finish time.
Please be on time to pick them up as we are unable to wait for parents as we have another class to start.
Are classes open to students outside of Kainalu?
At this time no. Please contact us for other options
Climbing Wall Location
Rockstars operates on a mobile rock climbing wall and will be set up on campus.
